Winston Salem Cycling Classic – May 29th  REPORT

Another gutsy ride for Team H&R Block rider Chris Prendergast, who finished 17th in the UCI 1.1Road Race at the Winston Salem Cycling Classic on Mon., May 29th. After a top 10 finish in the criterium, Chris bridged to another break in the road race, but it didn’t stick. With 5 laps left, he was still in a modestly sized chase group (about 12 riders) at only 50 seconds behind, but that group shattered around him due to the grueling pace – only 32 of 82 racers finishing within the time limit. Only his second event since finishing spring term at U of M, Chris is feeling in his best form ever. Also racing in Winston Salem was fellow Manitoban Karlee Gendron (Rise Racing), guest riding for IS Corp p/b Progress Software. Having a turnaround season herself, Karlee finished 27th in the Road Race, and 36th in the criterium.

Held May 27-29, the Winston Salem Cycling Classic is a popular stop on the North American Pro Continental Tour.
