Manitoba Athletes Deliver Strong Performances at the 2026 Canadian National Road Championships

Congratulations to the eight athletes from Manitoba who competed this past weekend at the 2026 Canadian National Road Championships in Saint-Georges, Quebec. Racing against Canada’s top road cyclists from June 25–28, these athletes competed in the Individual Time Trial, Road Race, and Criterium events across the U17, Junior (U19), and U23 categories.

Competing at the National Championships is a significant accomplishment and reflects the dedication, preparation, and commitment required to race at the highest level of domestic competition. Among the Manitoba athletes competing this year were U23 riders Adam Smith and Tyler Hartle, U19 riders Pinja Hyytiainen, Aubrey Allan, and Marcus Huebner, and U17 riders Isla Thomas, Nevin Howanyk, and Cade Burley. While competing for their respective clubs and teams, they also highlighted the strength and depth of Manitoba’s developing cycling community.

Several Manitoba athletes earned outstanding results, recording Top 10 finishes throughout the championship weekend:

Time Trial

  • U17/Junior Women: Isla Thomas5th
  • Junior Men: Aubrey Allan4th
  • U23 Men (34 km): Adam Smith5th

Road Race

  • U17 Women (77.1 km): Isla Thomas8th
  • Junior Men (107.6 km): Aubrey Allan10th

Criterium

  • U17/Junior Women: Isla Thomas5th overall and 1st U17 finisher in the combined U17/Junior Women’s field.

The Manitoba Cycling Association extends its congratulations to all eight athletes on their performances at this year’s National Championships. Their efforts continue to showcase the growth of cycling in Manitoba, and we look forward to following their successes throughout the remainder of the season.
