The MCA is served by volunteers that provide oversight, leadership, and expertise in many key areas.
The Manitoba Cycling Association depends on a strong club network for the continued growth of cycling in the Province of Manitoba. The local cycling club is the first contact most cycling enthusiasts make with organized cycling.
They organize most races and tours across Manitoba in addition to organizing recreational activities for their members (i.e.: club rides, skills clinics, social events etc.)
Clubs need volunteers in order to provide member activities and community events.
Join a club and sign on as a ride leader, board member, race organizer or volunteer, official, coach, activity leader, or race committee club representative.
For more information on how you can help, contact a local cycling club near you.
In order to ensure positive member engagement, communication, and create an open forum for organizational transparency, the activities of the Association are carried out by Standing and Ad-Hoc committees.
Committees are a chance for you and your clubs to engage with the MCA in an effort for us to work together to improve cycling across Manitoba.
Each MCA affiliated club in good standing may appoint an individual member as a representative of their club to each Race/event committee (Road, Mountain Bike, Cyclocross).
For more information on how you can help, contact the Club President or contact the Race Discipline Director of the sport you are interested in.
Community leaders from all regions in Manitoba are needed to run youth programming. Contact an existing Kids of Mud club tor consider starting up a new Kids of Mud Club!
A number of positions are needed to run a successful club including but not limited to coaching to scheduling, organizing, communications, recruiting, committee chair, and parents that help to ensure everyone is safe and having fun!
Program volunteers must meet the requirements of coaching Manitoba and the National Coaching Certification Program.
For more information on how you can help, contact a local Kids of Mud Club or contact the MCA if interested in starting a new club.
Staged every four years the Manitoba Summer Games is the largest ongoing multi-sport event in the province. The Games are awarded to a Host Community that teams up to put on this multi-sport event. The Games involve upwards of 7500 athletes, coaches, officials, and volunteers.
The MCA is responsible for identifying he regional teams for the Manitoba Games and requires volunteer coaches and managers from each region to support athlete development and games preparations.
For more information on how you can help watch for posting and updates on the Games Opportunities page.
The Bison Butte Mountain Bike trails are the legacy trails that were developed in Winnipeg for the 2017 Canada Summer Games.
Trails are open to the public for multi use and are leased to the City of Winnipeg by FortWhyte Alive. Manitoba Cycling has a memorandum of understanding to maintain the existing trails at this site. Each Spring the MCA (or a MCA representative) will host a volunteer night(s) to assist with garage clean-up, racking trail ruts, and starting trail preparations for summer use. During the summer the MCA typically hires students for ongoing maintenance.
In addition, please help spread the word that Manitoba Cycling has a National Sport Trust Fund which has been set-up to accept donations and issue tax receipts. Funds raised go directly to the ongoing maintenance and future development of Bison Butte. More information here: HERE
The Manitoba cycling team has a number of volunteers that serve in an advisory role on the Provincial Program Committee including:
Master Athlete rep, Parent rep, Kids of Mud rep, and Athlete rep, and Provincial Program Chair that also is part of the MCA Board of Directors.
Manitoba Cycling’s Annual General takes place every November. During this time members are elected for a 2 year term to serve in various positions of the board. For more information on the annual board positions up for nomination, please contact the Manitoba Cycling Association.
Directors are nominated and voted in by MCA membership in attendance at the Annual General Meeting held in the Fall.
