In 1999, Karin embarked on her mountain biking journey in Manitoba, where she quickly established herself as a force to be reckoned with. Her achievements culminated in a notable national recognition in the Elite Women category at the Canada Cup Hardwood Hills 2000.
Karin’s tenure on the Manitoba Cycling Board of Directors has been marked by dedication and leadership across various roles. From representing cyclists as the Athlete Director (1999-2003) to promoting youth development as the KOM Director (2011-2014), she has fostered inclusivity and vibrancy within the community. Co-founding both the Alter Ego and Velodonnas Cycling Clubs, Karin has been instrumental in shaping these communities, serving as a source of inspiration and guidance for cyclists of all levels.
In addition to her organizational roles, Karin’s commitment to fair play extends to her work as a Commissaire. Beginning as a certified MTB Commissaire in 2003, she has ensured fairness in cycling competitions. Karin’s commitment as a Commissaires has evolved into a leadership role as she is now the current MTB Chief Commissaire in Manitoba. In this role Karin has played a crucial role in training future generations.
Karin’s dedication to the cycling community is further exemplified by her extensive volunteer work. Serving as part of the Canada Summer Games team Mission Staff in 2005 and as Western Canada Summer Games Team Manager in 2007, she played pivotal roles in ensuring the success of these major sporting events.
