Canadian Ski Patrol’s upcoming Advanced First Aid (AFA) program and open house.

WHEN:  September 10th 6:30 to 9:30 

WHERE:   Sport Manitoba   145 Pacific Ave Winnipeg, Manitoba

The open house will be presented in a question-and-answer format, with a brief presentation lasting only a few minutes. Interested participants can sign up at the open house or by a closing date that will be discussed on September 10.

About the course

The AFA program is a blend of in-class practical skills training and online learning. While some classes are important to the overall learning experience, the program can accommodate participants who have other commitments.

The course runs from mid-to-late September through the end of November and includes online written exams as well as practical skills testing.

The Advanced First Aid program:

• Conforms to Canadian Standards Association requirements for advanced first aid.
• Includes Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR.
• Covers adult, child, and infant choking.
• Offers training at a comparatively low cost because the Canadian Ski Patrol is a nationally registered charity.

About the Canadian Ski Patrol

Established in 1941, the Canadian Ski Patrol currently has approximately 4,000 members across Canada. Members are volunteers, with the exception of two full-time positions providing corporate headquarters services.

The organization provides first-aid and safety services during both summer and winter at recreational and amateur athletic activities, community and cultural events, and charitable events—including walks supporting organizations such as juvenile diabetes and brain tumour foundations.

There is a fee/rate schedule for the program, and we are confident that we can offer a discounted rate for MCA participants. Approximately 80% of the course fee goes to the national organization to cover personal medical liability insurance and licensing for the online learning program.
