MCA: COVID-19 UPDATE

*PLEASE READ THIS MESSAGE IN ITS ENTIRETY *

Tuesday August 11, 2020

With the recent spike in COVID-19 cases in Manitoba, it’s important to remember that we are still in a pandemic. The MCA encourages members to continue following precautions set-out by our health authorities:

  • Practise good hand hygiene
  • Practice physical distancing (2M or 6ft)
  • Stay at home if you feel even mildly ill

Public health officials strongly urge anyone who has cold or flu-like symptoms, such as a cough, fever, runny nose, sore throat, headache, or any of the symptoms listed in the screening tool to contact Health links at 204-788-8200 or 1-888-315-9257.

Waivers are required for all MCA-sanctioned events, and individuals participating in group activities must be aware of the personal health risks of COVID-19 and participate at their own risk. All under-18 participants must have the signed approval of a parent or legal guardian to participate in activities.

Adults 18+

Youth (Parent Consent) U18

Further, each club is responsible for keeping a list of club members, along with a record of the date of each activity held and a contact list of all participants. Any individual experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19 should use the self-screening tool and get tested.

MCA competitions, clinics and camps

The MCA has been approved to resume with Road time trials, day camps, and coach clinics, following provincial protocols which include, but are not limited to, group size, physical distancing requirements, and hand sanitizing.

The Fall race schedule is under review – please stay tuned for further updates at mbcycling.ca or contact the appropriate race director with any questions:

Positive and negative tests – what to do

If you test positive for COVID-19, please inform your club personnel or coach immediately.  If you’ve had contact with any other participants in the past 14 days, the club personnel or coach should inform other potentially affected individuals (taking care to keep your identity and medical information private) and ask those who have any symptoms to use the self-screening tool.

If your COVID-19 test results are negative, you should stay home until your symptoms have resolved for 24 hours. If you have travelled or been exposed to a case, you should continue to self-isolate for the remainder of the 14-day period.

Sport Manitoba meeting rooms

Meeting rooms have been cut down to half capacity. We ask that everyone sanitize their hands entering the building and throughout the day. Meeting rooms are being sanitized before and after meetings but we ask that if food and drink are brought in, please clean off the tables and put containers into garbage or recycling when the meeting is finished. There is currently not a mandate to wear a mask.  Meeting room requests can be made through Laura Finlay at cyclingmb@gmail.com

STAY SAFE
