Manitoba Cycling Association

The Manitoba Cycling Association (MCA) is the not for profit, volunteer based Provincial Sports Organization responsible for the promotion and development of cycling in Manitoba since 1980.

Under the umbrella of Sport Manitoba and working with a rapidly growing membership base our purpose is to advance athletes along the performance pathway and develope partnerships to promote the growth of cycling in Manitoba. Working in collaboration with our clubs and members we strive to:

Provide structure and guidance for organized cycling in Manitoba
Facilitate and communicate activities
Develop coaches, athletes, officials & volunteers
Promote cycling safety
Provide standards & insurance for races

Athlete Spotlight

Provincial Team member – Adam Smith. Adam is currently a grade 12 student at St. Paul’s High School who began competing in endurance sports at the young age of 6. He started by racing Kids of Steel triathlons and transitioned into cycling by joining Kids of Mud and then Cycling Manitoba’s Development Program when he was 12. Through the Provincial team he has trained and raced all three cycling disciplines, but discovered his true passion was for road racing. Adam has successfully competed locally, nationally, and internationally and was very proud to represent Manitoba at the 2022 Canada Summer Games. In 2023 he had his most successful season to date which included winning the Pro/1/2 Road Races at the La Crosse Omnium in Wisconsin and the Rundle Mountain Bike Festival in Canmore, AB. For the 2024 season Adam is proud to be a member of PNW Racing – a Western Canadian Junior Trade Team and was also selected to join Cycling Canada’s Junior Men’s Road Team on their European spring campaign. Adam is looking forward to competing and testing himself against the World’s best in races across North America and Europe with PNW and Cycling Canada.

Athlete Spotlight

In 2003, Leah started cycling at age 13 with the Kids in the Mud mountain bike program in Winnipeg. Just 7 years later (at age 20) she turned professional. In 2010 she competed at her first Commonwealth Games. A year later, she finished 10th in the road race at the Pan American Championships and made her world championship debut. In 2012 she won road race silver at the Pan American Championships.
