MCA: Covid-19 update (May 08/20)

As some of the restrictions in Manitoba begin to ease, the Manitoba Cycling Association is working on protocols for a progressive and safe return to cycling activities in Manitoba. All sport protocols require the approval of Manitoba’s provincial government, so we are continuing to assess the best course of action and timing for activities and events that ensures the safety of our members, and follows the recommendations of the federal and provincial health authorities.

As activities are modified and approved, they will be posted to the MCA website (mbcycling.ca).

Further, the MCA realizes that due to the current restrictions in place – especially physical distancing and group size – we need to adapt our activities to ensure they comply with the recommendations from health agencies.

We are collaborating with our cycling partners across the country and our organizers within Manitoba to reimagine how our sports can be delivered whilst providing a safe and high-quality experience to our participants.

With all of this said, we have not yet made a decision on our June events. As a reminder and as mentioned in our last member communication, all May events are postponed.

Group activity

As it currently stands, all sanctioned MCA group activity remains in a suspended state until further notice. Protocols for the return of club activities are being created for the review and approval of the Province of Manitoba and our national insurance provider.

As restrictions are eased, the Manitoba government cautions everyone that the oversight, investigation and enforcement of violations will become increasingly more important.

For details, see the Province of Manitoba’s official web page: Restoring safe services.
