Jayson Gillespie named as National Coach for Youth Olympic Games

On Tuesday, August 3, the Canadian Olympic Committee announced the Canadian Team for the inaugural Youth Olympic Games that will take place in Singapore. Jayson Gillespie (Manitoba’s Provincial Cycling Coach) has been named as the National Cycling Coach for the Games. He will lead a team of four athletes competing in BMX, mountain bike, time trial and a road race.

Athletes selected to the team:
1) Kristina Laforge – Quebec (BMX, MTB, ITT)
2) Stuart Wight – New Brunswick (ITT, Road)
3) Steven Noble – Ontario (MTB, Road)
4) Steven Creighton – British Columbia (BMX, Road)

Cycling events take place at the Games:
– August 17: Mountain Bike (Junior Men & Women)
– August 18: Junior Men Time Trial
– August 19: BMX (Junior Men & Women)
– August 22: Junior Women Time Trial
– August 22: Junior Men Road Race
