Sharing Cycling Stories: Steve Scoles and The Long Haul PedalCast

Steve Scoles is a familiar face in Manitoba’s cycling community, known for his ongoing involvement and support of local cycling development. If you missed it, you can read our previous feature on Steve here: Community Champion: Steve Scoles – Manitoba Cycling Association

Alongside his work in the cycling community, Steve is the co-host of The Long Haul PedalCast, a Manitoba-based podcast produced through 101.5 UMFM in Winnipeg.

Co-hosted with exercise scientist Jon McGavock, the podcast explores the stories, training approaches, and lived experiences of cyclists and endurance athletes—particularly those with Prairie and Canadian connections. Each episode takes a deeper look at the people behind the performance, from emerging athletes to established professionals.

Recent guests have included Olympian Leah Kirchmann, Canadian Cyclocross Champion Michael van den Ham, and MCA alumnus Adam Smith, who share insights into their development, challenges, and experiences in the sport.
