We are in the home stretch and less than a week to the start of the 2024 MB Summer Games in Dauphin. Who’s excited?!

Race Uniforms
All the regional race jerseys have been distributed to the regional team managers/coaches save for a few. If you haven’t heard from your team manager/coach yet about your race jersey, please reach out to them directly. Reminder – for bottoms, athletes should wear BLACK shorts to complete their uniform for the 2 races (padded cycling shorts or unpadded it doesn’t matter so long as they are black).

Bike transportation to (and from) race venue
thank you to those who completed the google form about how your athlete’s bike will get to the race venue. If you did not complete the google form, it will be the parent’s responsibility to transport their athlete’s bike.
- For those that are having MCA transport your athlete/coach bike, a pin drop location (inside NW Perimeter hwy) on Google maps will be sent via text message to the phone number listed on the google form on Friday, August 9th. The MCA transportation waiver will need to be completed (will have extra paper copies at the drop off location) and the bike(s) will need to be dropped off on SATURDAY, Aug 10th between 9-5 PM. Bikes will be ready to pick up from the same location as drop off after 5 PM, Wednesday, August 14th.
- For those who will be transporting their athlete’s bike to the race venue, please drop off the bike on SUNDAY, Aug 11th between 12-3 PM. I will send a link to each Regional Team’s TeamSnap. NOTE: The race venue location and where the bikes are to be dropped off is at the site of Country Fest, and near the Selo Ukraina-Ukrainian Folk Arts Centre & Museum that is 20 mins south of Dauphin just off Hwy 10 (i.e. not in the town of Dauphin). Although we refer to the trails as Northgate, the start/finish is near the Country Fest stage/stadium. A MCA waiver does not need to be signed for those who are transporting their own bikes.
- For those who are nothaving MCA transport their athlete/coach bike back to Winnipeg, the bike will need to be picked up immediately following the race on Tuesday, Aug 13th (i.e. we cannot store it onsite after the final race).

Bus schedule and luggage
- Bus schedules have been sent to the regional coaches/managers to be forwarded to athlete families. There is a washroom on the bus. Each bus will have a bus captain. Once on the bus, people will not be permitted to depart the bus until they arrive the final destination (ie. cannot get off the bus at stops along the way). Please reach out to your team manager/coach if you have questions.
- Personal cycling equipment (helmet, gloves, shoes, glasses) should be packed with your personal belongings and kept with the athlete.
- Pack a nut free lunch and beverages for the bus ride as they will not have the opportunity to access the cafeteria until after they arrive and get checked in which may be mid/late afternoon.
-
Schedule of events
- Arrival and Departure schedule/procedures should have been sent through Sport MB. I’ve included it with this email as well. For those not taking the bus to Dauphin, please ensure your athlete meets your same gender coach/manager at their athlete’s village between 2:30-3 PM on Sunday, Aug 11th. Male village = MacKenzie Middle School and Female village = Dauphin Regional Comprehensive Secondary School.
- The schedule for all the 2024 MB Summer Games sporting events can be found on Gems Pro. https://mg2024.gems.pro/default.aspx?&Gems_ScreenWidth=1440&Gems_ScreenHeight=900&Gems_ScreenAvailWidth=1440&Gems_ScreenAvailHeight=900
- I’ve attached the cycling specific schedules to this email. There is time on each race day built into the schedule to pre-ride the course before the races start.
- Medal presentation for cycling will be at CN Park in Dauphin at 7:15 PM on Aug 12th and 13th.
-
Medical
- Any medical information that you have entered in Gems Pro is NOT shared with the coaches/manager and is only available to the MB Summer Games medical team. The Polyclinic (located in the Dauphin Regional Comprehensive Secondary School) has the ability to store and administer medications as needed. With that being said, it may be in your athlete’s best interest to share any allergies and/or medical issues, medications needed with your regional coach/manager who will be supervising the athletes.
- As with all other mountain bike races, there will be medical personnel at the race venue during the races and will be fully equipped to manage medical issues that arise.
-
Communication
- In advance of the Games, please determine the best means of communication between your team’s coach and manager (phone, text, TeamSnap, etc).
- Although there is no official cell phone policy (like they have in many schools) for athletes, the coaches/managers may choose to implement a no cell phone usage overnight and at other times so the athletes can get the sleep they need and help minimize distraction.
- Please see Sport MB’s Social Media Guidelines and it may be a good idea to review them with your athlete: https://www.sportmanitoba.ca/safesport-policies/
-
Miscellaneous
- Please ensure your athlete packs a shirt/top and brings it with them on the bus to the first race to change into as we will be taking the race jerseys from the race venue to get laundered so they will be clean for the second day of racing. Please let me know if there are any contact/skin allergies to commonly used laundry detergents.
- There will be potable/drinkable water on site at the race venue and shade tents set up for the regional teams.
- The athletes will have the ability to have a late hot lunch when they return to Dauphin on the two race days and we will also have some boxed lunches (sandwiches, fruit) and snacks available for those who get hungry before returning to Dauphin.
- There will be merchandise for purchase at CN Park during the “Party in the Park” evenings so you may want to send some money with your athlete just in case they want to purchase a souvenir.
See you all in Dauphin and Selo Ukraina Race venue!
