“Manitoba sweeps the podium in Alberta”
The Manitoba Cycling Association sent a group of their athletes last month to participate in the 2021 Ziggy Gnarly MTB Alberta Provincial Open.
Manitoba swept the podium in the 6 hour team marathon with Aiden Gauthier and Ethan Vandenberg taking the Gold, Adam Smith and Ewan Dalling getting Silver, and Blake Stefanec and Loïc Savard securing the Bronze for a trifecta in the U17 category.
These boys also placed very well in their individual races: notably Blake Stefanec placed 2nd overall in the combined XCO and Enduro events for the combined U13, U15, and U17.
For the young women, Aimee Gauthier wins the Gold for the XCO U15 category!
Our Juniors also rode very well with Mattheaus Dyck coming in second overall for the combined XCO and Enduro events. Dyck and Ty Andres also came out with a Gold medal in the 6 hour team marathon.
Our ladies also dominated their XCO event with Eryn Guenter winning Gold and Maia Dalling with the Silver!
We couldn’t be more proud if this team and their efforts.
Special thanks goes to our lead coach Mary Prendergast, with assistants Mitch Ketler and Dannick Vandale. Managers Gord Dalling and Marlis Jabs kept the team safe and fed. Thank you!
