Are you passionate about sport and youth development?

Are you interested in utilizing your leadership skills to help build a regional team that will participcate in the 2016 Manitoba Powersmart Summer Games ?

 

The MCA is seeking a Chair for the 2016 Summer Games who will help organize and coordinate all aspects of the games.

About the Games:

The Powersmart Manitoba Games are often an athlete’s first multi-sport Games experience. The Games help to identify Manitoba athletes who have the potential to advance to higher levels of competition: Provincial Team, National Competitions, and the Canada and Western Canada Games. After competing in the Power Smart Manitoba Games, many athletes move on to become part of Team Manitoba.

The 2016 Games will be held August 7-13 in Steinbach and will involve up to 1,800 participants and 1,000 volunteers. Sporting events include athletics, baseball, basketball, cycling, golf, sailing, soccer, softball, swimming, triathlon and volleyball.

Cycling will have two Mountain Bike events. Athletes ages 11,12,13,and 14 (as of Dec 31,2016) will be eligible to try-out for these games.

About the Position

The Chair will assist with the organization and coordination of our regional athletes, managers, and coaches as well as Commissaires and Mechanics for the event. They will be the sport contact for all aspects of the program and attend all meetings and events of the Manitoba Games program.

The position will report into the MCA Executive Director – Twila Pitcher.

Skills Required:

Leader and team player. Highly organized, strong communication skills, availability to attend meetings during the day and evening. Some travel may be required.
