CARAVAN DRIVERS NEEDED – Please contact the MCA

Training will be provided for Road Caravan Drivers next week. We need a minimum of 11 drivers. We currently have 9 drivers total (Car and Motorcycle) confirmed.

If you are interested in participating, and are available to support both the Road Test event on May 13 and the Canada Games Road events the week of Aug 6-13, please contact the MCA for further details at 204-925-5686.

 

IMPORTANT DATES:

  • General Road Volunteer training: Monday, May 01 or Tuesday, May 02
  • Caravan Driver Training: Wednesday, May 03
  • Road Test Event (Birds Hill Park): Saturday, May 13
  • Canada Summer Games: July 18-Aug 13 (Road Events-Week Two Aug 6-13)

CARAVAN TRAINING (ONLINE):

The objective of this training is to inform participants about basic rules for driving a vehicle in a cycling caravan.  This training is mandatory for all caravan drivers and must be completed prior to your practical training which will take place on Wednesday May 3.

The module will take approximately 45 minutes to complete.

PRACTICAL DRIVERS TRAINING:

WHEN:

Wednesday, May 03, 2017 (1800 – 2100). Please arrive at least 15mins early.

WHERE:

The MCA will provide details once you sign up.

WHO:

Jayson Gillespie (Provincial Cycling Coach) will be your learning facilitator. Athletes on bikes will also be participating.

WHAT:

Bring: water, snack, pen, paper, car or motorcycle

HOW:

There will be a short classroom (approx. 45mins), followed by practical drivers training.

Each driver will drive their own car for training purposes next week.  Cars will be provided for the Road Test Event and Canada Games. We are also interested in motorcycle drivers.

Radios will be provided

Training Cost: Free

 

TECHNICAL LICENSE      Upon completion of the training, each driver will be issued a Technical license.

The Caravan is one of the major priorities we will be testing at the Road Test event on Saturday, May 13.
