Canmore Canada Cup

Eleven members of Manitoba’s Provincial cycling team are in Canmore this week competing in the Canmore Canada Cup  working hard to earn their spot on this years Canada Summer Games team representing Manitoba. This race series is one of many events that will be considered in the final team selection which will occur on July 01.  In most, if not all cases, our team has had the challenge of random seeding which makes fighting their way to the front of a Mountain bike race even more challenging.  These are all factors that need to be taken into consideration when looking at final results.

This year’s Canada Games have been long awaited!  The games, first scheduled for 2021, but then postponed in 2020 to 2022 due to the Pandemic, will take place in Niagara, Ontario Aug 6-21.  It has been a challenging couple of years for these athletes due to lack of events.  Immediately following Canmore, many will head to the Tour of America’s Dairyland (southwast Wisconsin) which is the largest competitive road cycling series in the US.  Both the Road and Mountain Bike Nationals to follow!

Help cheer on our Canada Games hopefuls! We are proud of the accomplishments of this young team!
