The Accent Inns/Russ Hay’s Cycling Team p/b Champion System announced today its team for the 2016 Canadian National Cycling Championships to take place in Ottawa from June 25 to June 30.
The team’s best hopes at a Junior medal will belong to Winnipeg’s Oliver Evans, who recently won the Hayman Cycling Classic and is one of the rising stars of the Junior Canadian Cycling scene. At the age of 17, his list of Pro Cat 1/2 results are no less than impressive: 2nd at Tour of Walla Walla, Stage win and 2nd overall at Tour de Bloom, and 3rd overall at the Mutual of Enumclaw. Oliver will be competing in all disciplines. Western Canada Summer Games Road Cycling Champion, Kurt Penno, will join his fellow Manitobans in Ottawa as he will be racing in support for Oliver Evans but will also capitalize on his sprinting ability in the Junior Championship Road Race and Criterium. In the U23 category, the team will be represented by Mitch Ketler, Isaac Niles and Amiel Flett-Brown. 19 Year old Time Trial specialist, Ketler, will contest the Men’s U23 National Time Trial Championship and also make his debut in the U23 Championship Criterium and Road Race.
