2012 Powersmart Summer Games Countdown !

This is it…The final weekend of training and preparations for the Summer Games is here !

Over 70 athletes, coaches, managers, officials, and support staff representing 6 regional Cycling teams will be departing on Wednesday, July 18th, and heading  northwest to Swan River to not only compete for cycling, but to experience Manitoba’s largest ongoing multi-sport event. The summer games will attract over 1600  athletes, coaches, and managers from across the province competing in 10 different sports.

This will be a mini-Olympic experience for the kids including opening and closing ceremonies, an athletes village,  and a festival site with nightly entertainment.  Teams have walk-out uniforms and competitive racing jerseys sporting their regional colours. Cycling will be in Phase 2 of the games that run from July 18-21.

Cycling was last represented in the Summer Games in 2004 in Dauphon. It takes significant effort and manpower to organize these games and we are extremely grateful for all the volunteers and sponsors who have made our entry into the 2012 Summer games possible.

The goal of these games is to have fun and to do well.  It is an honour to be selected. Some of these athletes could be future Canada Games contenders, but our hope is that all will benefit from the team commodarie and the simple  joy of cycling for life.
