MCA SANCTIONED RACES:

An MCA sanctioned race is an event approved by the MCA for association members, and therefore covered by insurance. MCA Sanctioned events are posted to the MCA website/Event calendar (HERE)

May events:

We will continue to advise and direct all events moving forward with a continued abundance of caution. We are in the process of postponing May events to a future date where possible. If a club organizer is interested in replacing their event with a “virtual race” please notify us to discuss.  Email: cycling.ed@sportmanitoba.ca  or Phone: 204-925-5686

NEW “Prairie Virtual Spring Series”:

The Manitoba Cycling Association, in partnership with the Saskatchewan Cycling Association, is offering a new “Prairie Virtual Spring Series” for all our members starting Saturday, April 18th. For details on equipment requirements and how to join in on the fun please go (HERE)

CLUB RIDES:

Club rides are organized by MCA affiliated clubs and posted to their club website or blogspot.  All club rides need to be reported/approved into the MCA in advance to them happening in order to be covered by insurance.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the Manitoba Cycling Association cannot approve, endorse, or provide insurance coverage for any group activity indoors or outdoors until further notice. We recommend that all clubs, athletes and members postpone or cancel any gatherings such as group rides, training, and in-person group meetings for the immediate future.

Virtual Club Rides:

In order to keep active, some clubs are organizing “virtual club rides” for their members to keep fit, have fun, and practice social distancing.  A virtual ride is one that is organized by the club, whereby club members participate from their homes on a trainer. There are many applications available (RTG, Zwift, Fulgaz etc.). If your club is interested in organizing a virtual club ride but need some advice on where to start please contact Jayson Gillespie (MCA Head Coach): cycling.coach@sportmanitoba.ca or 204-333-5503.

Please Note: All virtual club rides need to be reported into the MCA for insurance purposes. If you need additional information on the process for insured club activities please contact the Twila Cruickshank/MCA Executive Director at cycling.ed@sportmanitoba.ca.

OTHER MEMBER OPPORTUNITIES:

We are working on several new opportunities for our members which we hope to post to our website soon.  These include but are not limited to online training, webinars, and new ways to prepare for the ride/race season, once it does rebound.

We would like to thank our members for their patience, support, and flexibility at this time. We will continue to track the latest developments and provide updates to our stakeholder and members in a timely manner.
