Coach Development – Webinar/Jan 30th: Mental Health in Sport

Cycling Canada Coach Webinars

 With the goal of increasing the level of interaction and professional development opportunities for cycling coaches across the country, Cycling Canada has accessed  key experts in cycling to to share their expertise with the community of cycling coaches across Canada.

Cycling Canada’s first webinar is scheduled for Thursday January 30, 2014.

Topic: Mental Health in Sport.

  • This webinar will cover Cycling Canada’s Mental Health Strategy, including the purpose and goals of the strategy, and strategies for increasing awareness, identification and intervention, treatment and resolution, and prevention. This strategy is a work in progress, and lessons learned from the first stages of implementation will be shared.      Resources for anyone wishing to learn more will be provided, as well as  resources and processes for seeking help for others or yourself.
  • This webinar will also include an introduction to the cycling NCCP structure by Elizabeth Kiraly, Domestic Development  Coordinator for Cycling Canada.

Speaker: Andrea Wooles Manager, Integrated Support Team, Cycling Canada

  • Andrea Wooles is the Science, Medicine, and Innovation  Manager for Cycling Canada, and has been in this role since 2009. Prior to  that, she consulted for a number of sports in the UK, after working for 5  years as the Physiologist for the Great Britain Cycling Team. She has a  hand in the LTAD world as well, as the Technical Consultant for the Canadian Sport for Life project in British Columbia.
