Coach Appreciation – Sat. Oct 5 (RSVP Required)

PLEASE RSVP BY OCT 3 to email: cycling.coach@sportmanitoba.ca

Hello Manitoba Cycling Coaches,

On Saturday, October 5, 2013, the Manitoba Cycling Association is inviting all Cycling Coaches to a Coach Appreciation Day . As a thank you for the hard work that all coaches have done for cycling in Manitoba, the MCA will be hosting a Coach Appreciation BBQ at Whittier Park from 12-1:30pm. The BBQ will be an opportunity for all the coaches in our cycling community to come together in an informal setting to socialize and celebrate the past season with one another.

In addition to the BBQ, we will be providing two learning opportunities for coaches of all levels, as well as an opportunity for coaches to hand in any paperwork to the MCA to meet the Coaching standard Requirements. You can drop off photocopies of your current first aid, criminal record checks or hand in your completed Child Abuse Registry Application. What better time to complete your paperwork and get out of the way!

In the morning, the Provincial Program will be hosting in an information session for coaches who are interested in becoming involved with the Learn to Race program. This program is the transition program from KOM to the Provincial Development program. This information session is will discuss the Provincial Program Learn to Race program and how the program can be expanded to allow more young athletes and coaches to continue with cycling at a competitive level beyond KOM. Please note we are treating this time as a brainstorming session to find ways to about how we can increase the capacity of the program in Manitoba. It is intended for coaches interested in becoming involved with the Learn to Race program. The session will run from 9:00am to 11:30am at the Sport for Life Centre (145 Pacific Avenue).

Then in the afternoon, the KOM program is providing a professional development session for all coaches to learn from one another. During this session, six skills will be lead by a different KOM coaches from the different KOM clubs. This will be an opportunity for all coaches to share their best practices for teaching each skill, as well as an opportunity for each coach to learn new ways to make their coaching and programs better. The session will run from 2-5pm at Whittier Park. Make sure to bring your bike, helmet and anything your use to teach your skills. We can have pylons and obstacles available if needed.
