Club Highlight: 3P Cycling Club – The People Behind the Race

3P Cycling Club - The People Behind the Race

A new addition to the local cycling scene, 3P Cycling Club is a not-for-profit club affiliated with the Manitoba Cycling Association (MCA).

The name “3P” stands for Provincial Program Parents, and the club is composed of current and former parents of athletes of the Manitoba Provincial Program.

Having spent years on the sidelines, volunteering at races, and traveling to events for their young athletes, this group decided to channel their experience back into the sport by focusing entirely on the logistics and execution of high-quality races.

2026 Race Calendar

Because 3P focuses on the “behind-the-scenes” work, their success is measured by the quality of the events they provide for the rest of the cycling community

Their 2026 schedule is already looking packed:

  • Stony Mountain Criterium (June 9, 2026): A high-energy race through the heart of Stony Mountain that has quickly become a rider favorite.
  • Battle of the Butte Double Header (August 22–23, 2026): A weekend of dirt at Bison Butte featuring both a Marathon and a Funduro race.

Spotlight Event: Tour de Riding Mountain 2026

The inaugural 3P cycling club event will be the Tour de Riding Mountain, taking place from May 30-31, 2026. This event is a massive undertaking that brings a world-class racing feel to the scenic backdrop of Riding Mountain National Park and the town of Dauphin.

The weekend features a diverse lineup of events:

  • Saturday: A scenic Gran Fondo and the Manitoba Provincial Road Championship Race through the rolling hills of the Riding Mountain National Park.
  • Sunday: A 11 km individual hill climb Time Trial and a fast-paced Criterium in downtown Dauphin which will serve as the 2026 Criterium Championship.

Paving the Way for Inclusion

3P Cycling Club has collaborated with Cycling Canada to integrate Para-cycling categories into the Tour de Riding Mountain events. This move marks a major step forward for accessibility in Manitoba’s competitive cycling scene

How to Register and Get Involved

The 3P Cycling Club is a testament to the fact that it takes more than just athletes to build a thriving cycling community—it takes a dedicated group of volunteers willing to design events so beginners feel supported and competitive racers feel challenged.
