SATURDAY, JUNE 13

1)Floodway Ride:

Join us for a car free ride along the Duff Roblin Parkway at a social pace as we ride the gravel road north to Birds Hill Park or south to Duff Roblin Park.

Meet at the Gunn Road staging area (Gunn Rd and the Perimeter – floodway side)

2)MEC Group Ride 10-1130am:

Join MEC as part of their Bike Fest celebration for a Group Ride for anyone who likes to ride on the open road. This ride is faster paced and geared towards those who are comfortable riding on the road and in groups.  Open to all cyclists, road bikes encouraged. No-drop rides = No rider left behind.

Riding Level:

  • A minimum of 15 km/hr for 1.5 hrs
  • Comfortable riding in traffic

Meet at MEC at 10 am. Cost free.

3)MEC Bike Fest 11am-4pm:

MEC will once again be hosting their annual Bikefest community event. Come out, join the fun and connect with your local bicycle community. This year the activities and clinics will be right at the store in downtown Winnipeg. The focus of this year’s event is on high performance cycling, but there will be something for everyone including group rides, bicycle demos, bikeswap/gearswap, bicycle repair and maintenance clinics, free bike tune-ups, kid’s activities, and wellness clinics. Some of the local bicycle clubs, advocacy groups and events including Bike Week Winnipeg will be there. 4)Injury Prevention and Management for cyclists seminar 11am-12pm:

Brian Buffie, a physiotherapist from the Sport Medicine Center at Sport for Life will be talking about injury prevention and management as those of us that ride bikes. The seminar is open to all and applicable to all kinds of cycling.

The seminar will be held at Mountain Equipment Coop as part of their Bike Fest.

5)Happy Days on Henderson 11am-3pm

Join the community of North East Winnipeg to celebrate biking! There will be fun for all ages including free bike tune-ups and a draw to win one of 20 refurbished bikes and new helmets. Ride your bike there and park it free of charge with Bike Valet Winnipeg.

The bikes have been donated by the Elmwood High School CYCLE Program and the Headingly Correctional Center. The helmets were donated by the Manitoba Aboriginal Sport and Recreation Council. Sport Medicine & Science Council of Manitoba will be there to assist with appropriate bike helmet fitting

6)MEC Confidence Building Ride 130-230pm

Join one of Mountain Equipment Coops as part of their Bike Fest celebration on an open Group Ride for anyone who wants to build their road cycling abilities.   Open to ALL cyclists. No-drop rides = No rider left behind.

Riding Level:

  • Comfortable riding a bicycle recreationally.
  • Looking to build confidence riding on the road.

Meet at MEC at 1:30.  Cost free

7)Women with Wrenches 130-330pm

Get ready for Bike Week with a workshop and group ride for women by women. The workshops will focus on brakes, changing flats and cleaning your bike. Then we’ll head off for a casual group ride . Come on out and enjoy the fun and learning.

South Osborne Bike Hub – 725 Kylemore Avenue

Cost free. Make sure to bring an old shirt with you.

8)Orioles Bike Cage Open Shop 10am-2pm

Drop by Orioles Bike Cage to get some help, some repair advice, or use the shared tools. Volunteers will be on had to help you if you need.
