Calling All Volunteers!

Please join us at Bison Butte to help maintain our beloved trails while also building a stronger community!

Date: Monday, June 24, 2024
Time: 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm

What to Bring:

  • Work Gloves
  • Closed Toe Shoes
  • Hat
  • Water
  • Rake (if your have one available)
  • Charged Cell Phone

Manitoba Cycling will supply:

  • Maintenance Tools
  • Maintenance Instruction (if needed)
  • Water + Snacks

Access/Parking:

  • Parking available at the Bison Butte sea can. Access off McCreary road (gates will open at 445pm). Please drive in slowly in respect for the residents (and the bison!)  Google Map
  • If biking or walking access off the Trans Canada trail or FortWhyte Alive

Arrival:

  • Register at the MCA tent to sign a waiver (if you did not pre-register)
  • Go to sea can to be assigned tool(s) and maintenance assignment/location by a MCA representative.
  • Depending on volunteer numbers we will deploy small groups to work together on different sections of the hill.

Duties include:

  • Garbage Pick-Up
  • Debris Removal (or tagging for future removal)
  • Trail Racking and Packing (racking out ruts and smoothing the trail)
  • Whipper sniping
  • Sign-in/sign-out volunteer desk
    • Gate volunteer

Departure:

  • When you are finished please return tools and sign-out at registration desk.

Don’t worry, we will have experienced individuals available to offer guidance

ABOUT: The Bison Butte trails are located between Cabella/Ikea and FortWhyte Alive. The 6km of trails are open to the public and maintained by volunteers and thru grants obtained by Manitoba Cycling for approved work at the site.
