Cyclocross

Cyclo-Cross is a hybrid form of road cycling/racing. Cyclo-cross (sometimes CCXCXcyclocross) is bicycling off-road and not to be confused with mountain biking. Cyclo-cross bikes are nearly identical to traditional road bikes but tend to have a longer wheelbase, a higher bottom-bracket for improved clearance over obstacles and tread on their tires for the purpose of riding on unpaved roads and rough trails.

CX Racing typically take place in the autumn and winter and consist of many laps of a short course featuring pavement, wooded trails, grass, steep hills, and obstacles requiring the rider to quickly dismount, carry the bike while navigating the obstruction and remount.

The Manitoba CX race calendar is established each year by the Cyclocross committee in January and posted to the MCA website in February. Events typically take place September to November.

The organization of CX races and events depends on the work of volunteers – consider joining the CX committee and help CX racing grow in Manitoba.

The committee consists of a Chair (MCA Board Member) and a representative from each club in Manitoba.
