The MCA Commuter’s License is designed for cyclists who use their bikes for transportation, recreation, or fitness — but aren’t looking to join a cycling club or participate in races.
Whether you’re biking to work, running errands, or riding for fun, the Commuter’s License offers protection, perks, and a connection to Manitoba’s cycling community — without the commitment to competitive or club-based cycling.
This license is perfect for:
If you don’t race or ride with a club, this license is for you.
To help you choose the right membership, please note:
👉 If you’d like to join a Club or race, consider an MCA General Membership or Provincial Race License instead.
The Commuter’s License is $150 per year.
While this may seem like a significant cost upfront, it’s important to know that your license includes year-round sport accident insurance — coverage that protects you anytime you’re on your bike, whether you’re commuting, riding for fitness, or just out for a weekend cruise.
What your license provides:
Think of it as an annual insurance policy for your cycling life — designed specifically for riders who aren’t part of a club or competitive scene but still want protection and connection.
🛠 Note: As a non-competitive cyclist, you likely don’t need race-day or event-specific coverage — this license fills that gap with a standalone solution built just for you.
The Commuters License provides:
No, the Commuters License does not grant access to MCA-sanctioned club rides or race events.
If you’d like to join a cycling club and participate in organized rides, you should instead purchase an MCA General Membership. This membership allows for club participation and can be paired with additional Sport Accident Insurance coverage as an optional add-on during registration.
The Commuters License is not a race license and does not grant access to MCA-sanctioned race events or club rides. It’s meant for individuals who want to enjoy cycling for recreation, commuting, or fitness without participating in competitive cycling or club rides/activites.
No, the Commuters License is available to cyclists across Manitoba, not just in Winnipeg. It’s aimed at all non-competitive cyclists, whether you’re commuting or riding for recreation.
The Commuters License offers discounts on bike-related products and services, including special offers on bike insurance. More discounts will be added as the program grows.
