SUMMARY:Road/CX Commissaire Refresher
DESCRIPTION:A Road/CX refresher will take place at the Sport for Life Centre (hosted by the MCA) for existing officials on Sunday\, April 15th from 0930-1130. \nFacilitator:\nArlene Woodcock (National Road Commissaire\, Canada Cycling Commissaire Learning Facilitator\, Canada Cycling Chief Road/Cross Commissaire\, Manitoba Cycling Association) \nCommissaires play a critical role in our sport\, ensuring that cycling races are held in the best possible conditions and that races are run fairly by ensuring that the rules are uniformly applied. Becoming a race official is a great way to give back to the sport\, and learn more about the rules and regulations of the sport. \nWe are asking all Clubs who organize and particate in racing to encourage their members to get training so club activities can continue to be supported. The more race officials we have the better we can support our clubs and races. If you or one of your club members is interested in a future training opportunity please contact the MCA Executive Director at 204-925-5686. Thank you

SUMMARY:Coaching Clinic: Community Initiation Training
DESCRIPTION:  \nLet’s Ride! Community Cycling- Initiation (CCI) is the NCCP context for coaches who will primarily work with novice\, pre-competitive cyclists at the community level\, including participants in the Active Start\, FUNdamentals and early Learn to Train stages of athlete development. The program is simple\, based on a number of pre-designed lesson plans\, and adaptable to the varying skill and ability levels of participants. The focus of the program is on having participants develop skills which are basic to MTB\, BMX\, and Road\, in a controlled\, off-road\, off-trail setting such as a sport field or parking lot. \nCCI training has two parts – the “Let’s Ride!” CCI workshop\, and a Basic Bicycling Skills workshop. The first workshop provides information on ethical coaching\, participants and their needs\, basic practice planning\, equipment and other important information for coaches of beginner cyclists. The second workshop provides an opportunity for “on-bike” practice in skill teaching and analysis\, practice coaching and use of provided lesson plans.  The community initiation classroom course must be completed before you complete the Basic Bike Skills workshop.   On completion\, coaches have “Trained” status in NCCP.  Read more… \nFor further details please contact: Monika Robertson (Coach/Learning Facilitator) at mubouch@shaw.ca \nRequirements to become a Community Coach: Coaching Standards Policy \n  \nREGISTRATION – CLICK HERE
