SUMMARY:Mountain Bike/Commissaire Course
DESCRIPTION:Training will take place at the Sport for Life Centre (145 Pacific Ave) on April 18\, 2015 (full day) and will be offered free of charge.  Returning Commissaires are required to attend for a portion of the day for any 2015 rule/procedure changes. Upon successful completion\, officials are required to maintain their license by committing to a minimum of 2 events per season. We currently have weeknight and weekend races scheduled. \nWe ask the EACH club in Manitoba who wished to host a race have at the minimum 1 Mountain bike commissaire. DESCRIPTION:In July 2017 Winnipeg will  host to the 2017 Canada Games.   For Road cycling\, this means the opportunity to host a National Road race\, Time Trial\, and Criterium. \nIn preparation for these games\, the MCA is looking for individuals interested in becoming Road/Cyclo-cross Officials. \nTraining will take place at the Sport for Life Centre (145 Pacific Ave) on March 28 – 29\, 2015 and will be offered free of charge.   Upon successful completion\, officials are required to maintain their license by committing to a minimum of 3 events each season. \nCommissaires play a critical role in our sport\, ensuring that cycling races are held in the best possible conditions and that races are run fairly by ensuring that the rules are uniformly applied. \nThe MCA is pleased to provide the entry level course for those that are interested in becoming a Commissaire. \nThe structure of the course is as follows: \n\nTechnical – 2 days of classroom training Practical Assessment – Officiate in a training capacity under the guidance of the instructor\nThe Technical Course will introduce you to the basics of being a Commissaire as well as fundamental officiating skills (e.g. Timekeeping\, Finish Judging\, equipment check\, etc.)  The goal of the training at this level is to build awareness and understanding of how to apply the regulations while learning to execute the officiating skills for the Road & Cross discipline competently.   Upon completion of the course\, each candidate will be expected to successfully pass a Practical Assessment via officiating in a training capacity under the guidance of the instructor.\n\nLogistics: \n*       Day I: Saturday March 28  8:45 am – 4:30 pm \n*       Day II: Sunday\, March 29 8:45 am – 4:30 pm \n*       Location: Sport for Life Centre\,  145 Pacific Avenue \nInstructor:  Arlene Woodcock (National Road Commissaire\, Canada Cycling Commissaire Learning Facilitator\, Canada Cycling Chief Road/Cross Commissaire\, Manitoba Cycling Association)\nTo Register for the course please contact the MCA via email or phone by March 14: \nPhone: 204-925-5686 \nEmail: cycling.ed@sportmanitoba.ca

DESCRIPTION:In July 2017 Winnipeg will  host to the 2017 Canada Games.   For Road cycling\, this means the opportunity to host a National Road race\, Time Trial\, and Criterium. \nIn preparation for these games\, the MCA is looking for individuals interested in becoming Road/Cyclo-cross Officials. \nTraining will take place at the Sport for Life Centre (145 Pacific Ave) on March 28 – 29\, 2015 and will be offered free of charge.   Upon successful completion\, officials are required to maintain their license by committing to a minimum of 3 events each season. \nCommissaires play a critical role in our sport\, ensuring that cycling races are held in the best possible conditions and that races are run fairly by ensuring that the rules are uniformly applied. \nThe MCA is pleased to provide the entry level course for those that are interested in becoming a Commissaire. \nThe structure of the course is as follows: \n\nTechnical – 2 days of classroom training Practical Assessment – Officiate in a training capacity under the guidance of the instructor\nThe Technical Course will introduce you to the basics of being a Commissaire as well as fundamental officiating skills (e.g. Timekeeping\, Finish Judging\, equipment check\, etc.)  The goal of the training at this level is to build awareness and understanding of how to apply the regulations while learning to execute the officiating skills for the Road & Cross discipline competently.   Upon completion of the course\, each candidate will be expected to successfully pass a Practical Assessment via officiating in a training capacity under the guidance of the instructor.\n\nLogistics: \n*       Day I: Saturday March 28  8:45 am – 4:30 pm \n*       Day II: Sunday\, March 29 8:45 am – 4:30 pm \n*       Location: Sport for Life Centre\,  145 Pacific Avenue \nInstructor:  Arlene Woodcock (National Road Commissaire\, Canada Cycling Commissaire Learning Facilitator\, Canada Cycling Chief Road/Cross Commissaire\, Manitoba Cycling Association)\nTo Register for the course please contact the MCA via email or phone by March 14: \nPhone: 204-925-5686 \nEmail: cycling.ed@sportmanitoba.ca

DESCRIPTION:COMMUNITY COACHING (suitable for Kids of Mud) \nLet’s Ride! Community Cycling- Initiation (CCI) is the NCCP context for coaches who will primarily work with novice\, pre-competitive cyclists at the community level\, including participants in the Active Start\, FUNdamentals and early Learn to Train stages of athlete development. The program is simple\, based on a number of pre-designed lesson plans\, and adaptable to the varying skill and ability levels of participants. The focus of the program is on having participants develop skills which are basic to MTB\, BMX\, and Road\, in a controlled\, off-road\, off-trail setting such as a sport field or parking lot. \nCCI training has two parts – the “Let’s Ride!” CCI workshop\, and a Basic Bicycling Skills workshop. The first workshop provides information on ethical coaching\, participants and their needs\, basic practice planning\, equipment and other important information for coaches of beginner cyclists.
