DESCRIPTION:10 Weeks\, Starting January 13\,2016! \nThe Manitoba Cycling Association is once again offering the women’s only training program to provide an opportunity for women in cycling to come together to share their passion of cycling and work hard. Starting Wednesday January 13\, 2-16 the MCA will be running the women’s only training night for 10 weeks. \nThe program is run in collaboration by The Velodonna’s and the Provincial Cycling Program. Lindsay Argue is the program coordinator and Anna Schappert is the lead coach. \n  \nTraining Schedule  \n10 Week Program on Wednesdays \n\nFirst date will be January 13\, 2016 and will run 10 weeks until March 16\, 2015\nCycling workouts will be 2 hours from 6-8:00pm\n\n\nJan 13 ‪2. DESCRIPTION:COMMUNITY COACHING (suitable for Kids of Mud) \nLet’s Ride! Community Cycling- Initiation (CCI) is the NCCP context for coaches who will primarily work with novice\, pre-competitive cyclists at the community level\, including participants in the Active Start\, FUNdamentals and early Learn to Train stages of athlete development. The program is simple\, based on a number of pre-designed lesson plans\, and adaptable to the varying skill and ability levels of participants. The focus of the program is on having participants develop skills which are basic to MTB\, BMX\, and Road\, in a controlled\, off-road\, off-trail setting such as a sport field or parking lot. \nCCI training has two parts – the “Let’s Ride!” CCI workshop\, and a Basic Bicycling Skills workshop. The first workshop provides information on ethical coaching\, participants and their needs\, basic practice planning\, equipment and other important information for coaches of beginner cyclists. DESCRIPTION:Please note that due to low registration the Sep 19th community initiation classroom has been cancelled. \nParticipants who have registered for this class will be moved to the Saturday Nov 28th class or refunded. \nOur apologies for any inconvenience \n  \nCOMMUNITY COACHING (suitable for Kids of Mud) \nLet’s Ride! Community Cycling- Initiation (CCI) is the NCCP context for coaches who will primarily work with novice\, pre-competitive cyclists at the community level\, including participants in the Active Start\, FUNdamentals and early Learn to Train stages of athlete development. The program is simple\, based on a number of pre-designed lesson plans\, and adaptable to the varying skill and ability levels of participants. The focus of the program is on having participants develop skills which are basic to MTB\, BMX\, and Road\, in a controlled\, off-road\, off-trail setting such as a sport field or parking lot. \nCCI training has two parts – the “Let’s Ride!” CCI workshop\, and a Basic Bicycling Skills workshop. The first workshop provides information on ethical coaching\, participants and their needs\, basic practice planning\, equipment and other important information for coaches of beginner cyclists. The second workshop provides an opportunity for “on-bike” practice in skill teaching and analysis\, practice coaching and use of provided lesson plans.  The community initiation classroom course must be completed before you complete the Basic Bike Skills workshop.   On completion\, coaches have “Trained” status in NCCP. \nCommunity Course Dates Confirmed: \n\nCommunity Initiation Classroom – Saturday Sep 19\,2015. 9am-4pm. DESCRIPTION:EVENT: Power Smart Manitoba Games Coach Seminar\nDATE: September 18 – 19\, 2015\nLOCATION: Steinbach\, Manitoba \n\n\n\n\n \nSport Manitoba in partnership with the 2016 Steinbach Host Society and Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries IMPACT Program are proud to announce the Power Smart Manitoba Games Coach Seminar in Steinbach\, Manitoba. The seminar will take place September 18 – 19\, 2015 to kick off National Coaches Week in Canada!\nThe seminar aims to develop coaches using sport specific session as well as sport generic sessions that have cross over from sport to sport. The seminar will focus on the sports involved in the 2016 Power Smart Manitoba Summer Games. Sessions will range from taping and strength training to bike maintenance for cycling coaches and high performance catching skills for softball coaches. \nCoaches who have already been selected or will potentially coach at the 2016 Power Smart Manitoba Summer Games\, along with coaches in Steinbach and the surrounding area are eligible to attend the seminar. The morning sessions at the seminar will meet the requirements for NCCP certified coaches to gain Professional Development (PD) points. \nFor session information and a tentative schedule please click here. \nPSMG & Community Coach – Basic Bike Mechanics for Coaches \nThis basic bike mechanics training course is a 3 hour hands on interactive clinic. It is designed to teach coaches the essentials of maintaining bikes before\, during and after training and racing. The goal of this workshop is to introduce the coach to specific skills so they can provide the best support to their athletes and teams. \nSession topics: \n\nBasic principles of bike mechanics\nBasic tool kit and spare parts coaches should have (for travel to races and training)\nMaintenance and servicing: changing a flat\, chain maintenance\, repair and replacement\, adjusting a thread less headset and more if time allows\nOn the fly wheel maintenance\nPre-race inspection\nPositioning on the bike\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFacilitator: Dave Dorning\, BMX Coordinator\, MCA Board of Directors
