Ride for Change in support of the Children’s Rehabilitation Foundation
June 16 - June 18
All current MCA members are invited to join the Ride for Change multi-club fundraiser road rides on June 16 and 18, 2023.
This year, we are planning a multi-club fundraiser ride event in partnership with Ride for Change. The elevator pitch is: Matt is riding from Halifax to Victoria, then up to the Yukon and back down to Edmonton and in each province he is raising funds for a different charity. The Manitoba portion is raising funds for the Children’s Rehab Foundation; specifically adaptive bikes for kids. All donations go directly to the Children’s Rehab Foundation.
This event is free and if you are an MCA club, your club insurance covers any liability concerns. We would like to encourage all clubs to show up and ride with Matt into the city on Friday, June 16, and then ride west with him as he leaves on Sunday, June 18.
Friday, June 16: Riders depart from Mountain Bean Coffee (2001 Henderson Hwy) at 5:00 pm and meet Matt in Lockport around 6:00 pm. Join him as he rides into Winnipeg and stay for a drink and a snack at Mountain Bean after the ride, if you like.
Sunday, June 18: Riders depart from Assiniboine Park Duck Pond at 9:00 am and ride west to send Matt off in style. Riders turn back as needed, or as a group at Pigeon Lake. Enjoy post-ride coffee/breakfast at Park Cafe, if you like. Sunday route.
The Children’s Rehabilitation Foundation (CRF) exists to raise funds to improve the lives of Manitoba children and youth (birth to 21 years) living with physical and/or developmental disabilities who access services through the Rehabilitation Centre for Children (RCC) Specialty Services for Children and Youth (SSCY) Centre. Funds donated to the Foundation support vital and vast adapted programming not funded by other sources, leading-edge pediatric rehabilitation research and custom adaptive technology devices/equipment for children (bikes, walkers, and iPads). The work of the Foundation helps unlock potential and enables children and youth to be active participants in their communities.
Donations are encouraged, but are not required to participate. We would like to rally around Matt and the Ride for Change support crew as they make their way through Manitoba as a show of support, and to raise awareness about the opportunities the Rehabilitation Centre for Children offers our communities.
