Manitoba Women Participate with National Team Camps

Three of Mantioba’s top women cyclists will be participating with the National Team this spring.

Karlee Gendron & Anna Schappert have been selected to attend the National Development Women’s Training Camp in Seneca, South Carolina from February 17-27.  This camp is focused on introducing National team opportunities to the top prospective women cyclists from around the country.  Karlee will be focused on road racing for the 2011 season and will be riding for a semi-professional team (Trek Red Truck) based out of Vancouver, B.C.  Anna will be focusing on cross country mountain biking and will be racing the Mountain Bike Canada Cups throughout the country this summer.  Later this summer, Karlee & Anna will be the team leaders for the Manitoba Provincial team at the Western Canada Summer Games in Kamloops, BC. You can follow Karlee’s season at: http://trekredtruckracing.com/index.html, and Anna’s seasons through the MCA website.

After an amazing 2010 season, Leah Kirchmann has recently received carding from Sport Canada and is now a full member the National cycling team.  She is currently attending the Women’s Road National Team camp in Oxnard, California to help her prepare for the upcoming season.   This camp is for the potential women who will represent the country at the next Olympic Games in London.  In addition to her ongoing involvement with the National team, Leah will also be riding for one of the top women’s teams in North America for the 2011 season  – the Profesional Continential Team Colavita/Forno D’Asolo.    You can follow Leah’s progress through the season at: http://www.teamcolavita.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=page.display&page_id=1
