The responsiblities of a cycling official is to ensure a safe and fair play competition, in accordance with UCI/MCA Rules and Regulations.
All races at the provincial and regional level in Manitoba must be attended by one or more Commissaires, working closely with the organizer. The following responsibilities apply:
Assess and maintain safety,
- Ensure fair plan, which may require the need to apply penalties (such as warnings, fines, relegation, or disqualification) if appropriate for infractions of the rules,
- Judge the start and finish of each race, and
- Produce accurate results.
Commissaires are trained and licensed volunteers who, when appointed to provincial and regional level races are paid an honorarium for races worked, plus travel expenses.

There are 3 main levels in the program; Provincials commissaires, National commissaires and International commissaires. To get started, consider taking the online Provincial C training to get a better feel of the the cycling disciplines and the rules that apply. Provincial Commissaire training for Road, Mountain Bike, and Cyclocross will be scheduled in March so if you have what it takes, let the MCA know and we will guide you thru the steps.
